FAQs

  • Connecting with your therapist is essential! You want to feel heard, understood, and supported.

Before scheduling a session, I do a free 15 minute intro call with all potential new clients.

This gives us a chance to get to know each other so we can see if we are a good fit. During this intro call, I’ll ask you about why you’re seeking therapy at this time. Then I will then tell you a little bit about myself and my approach as a therapist. While on the call, you can ask me any questions that you may have. We’ll also talk about rates, insurance, availability, etc. If you would like to move forward, we will then go ahead and schedule a first session.

  • When starting therapy, I ask all new clients to commit to weekly sessions.

Sessions are 45 minutes in length.

This will allow us to start off on a strong foot, so you can start seeing progress right away.

  • No, I can only provide therapy in states that I am licensed in. I am licensed to work with residents who live in New Jersey, Florida, South Carolina and Vermont

  • Therapy can help you in so many ways! It is a great opportunity to learn more about yourself. Through therapy, you will learn coping skills to help manage any anxiety, depression, stress, or any life change you may be going through. Individual therapy is also beneficial for:

Learning how to better communicate & set boundaries

Working on self - esteem & self acceptance

Looking into any potential substance abuse / addiction

Working on identifying & managing emotions

Dealing with complicated family dynamics / relationships

  • During the first session, I will get to know you by asking questions related to your life journey. We will also come up with goals together that you hope to accomplish in therapy.

  • At the moment, In-Balance Psychotherapy is a telehealth only practice, seeing clients who reside in NJ, FL, SC + VT

Sessions are conducted virtually, in the comfort of your own home, using a HIPAA compliant platform.

  • Confidently between a therapist and a client is one of the most important components to the therapeutic relationship! Before starting therapy, you will be given an “informed consent” form, which explains that what you discuss in session, will not be shared with anyone. If you would like your therapist to talk to your medical doctor or psychiatrist , for example, to better coordinate care, then you will be asked to sign a “release of information” form. This form states that you are giving permission for your therapist to contact / release information to whomever you name in the release of information form.

State law & professional ethics require therapists to maintain confidentiality except for the following situations:

Suspected past or present abuse or neglect of children, adults, and elders must be reported to the authorities, including Child Protective Services and law enforcement, based on information provided by the client or collateral sources.

If the therapist has reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming him/herself or has threatened to harm another person.

  • In-Balance Psychotherapy requires that you keep a current, active credit card on file to cover the cost of your session. Your credit card will be charged after the session. You may also use your HSA or FSA card in lieu of your credit card.
